Make your own sea salt scrub!

As any 13 year old girl knows, its fun to make your own skincare/cosmetics/rose petal perfume!  Of course the results may not necessarily be….stellar, especially on the rose petal perfume front! Best to leave Chanel/Max Factor to it on certain fronts.

What YOU definitely can do yourself at home though is save money by making your own face and body scrubs. Making your own scrub is super duper easy and cheap and only requires 2-3 ingredients. Here’s how to make it

You need -

  • 1 cup sea salt (I used saxa coarse sea salt which was about a £1 and I used most of the tub)
  • 1/2 cup baby oil (I used Johnsons and used up about half the bottle so cost was 50p)
  • Essential oil (optional). I used some almond essence to make it smell nice, you could also use vanilla, mint or whatever you have, or nothing, it just won’t smell nice!

Then just combine salt, oil and essential oil in a bowl, stir, and spoon into a clean jar (I used a jam jar) ready for use.

Here’s what it looked like in its jar – I estimate it made about 500g worth of scrub for a cost of £1.50ish so pretty good value! You can also make the scrub with sugar rather than salt, or a mixture of the two, as the salt will give you quite a harsh scrub and sugar would be more gentle.

And here’s my handsome friend Edward with his scrub! I made it as a gift for him.

*UPDATE* – Edward says this scrub is amazing

Sure, but how’s it taste? If I use olive oil instead of baby oil would this work as a cleaning scrub and a meat rub?

    Wow. Bargainaliscious!
