We don’t have a car – I can drive but live a 20 minute walk from my workplace so it just doesn’t make sense for me to spend all that money on a car. Sometimes I think I let that make me a little negative about the fact that there are loads of places that I’d love to visit around Nottinghamshire and the surrounding counties, but can’t.
But not anymore… this summer has been decreed to be the summer of Doing Things and Going Places. Hurrah! We went on our first trip this past weekend to Matlock Bath, which is a lovely former spa town in Derbyshire.
See that castle looking house? We walked (climbed) all the way up there! The views were lovely, but I definitely don’t envy the people of Matlock Bath when it comes to getting their shopping delivered!
Here are a few more snaps from our trip
Now I’m trying to figure out what other places we can visit on the bus or train from Beeston – I know that Bakewell, Buxton and Creswell Craggs are all options, although Buxton is a very long journey.
So – what do you think? Where should we visit next? Anyone have any recommendations?
x Kerry
Like this a lot, my other half and I went to Matlock Bath on our first date 🙂
Would recommend a trip to Bakewell, it’s a bit bigger than Matlock Bath, some lovely little back streets and boutique shop to wander in, and best of all, lots lovely tea rooms to choose from! x
These photos look great… I can’t wait to come back to England again soon, the scenery is so beautiful!
Thanks Tara – it is a lovely country to live in 🙂
Hello again Kerry! I’m researching the best university to apply to for a Masters in Applied Linguistics. I’m considering doing the web-based distance course at the University of Nottingham. If you have any advice or info, I would appreciate it so much if you could pass it along! 🙂 I just realized this uni has the perfect program for me so I’m super curious to learn more and maybe apply there! 🙂
Hey Lucy! I can certainly let you know what I think about the University and the area – I don’t really know anything about masters courses though I’m afraid xx
I remember Derbyshire from Pride and Prejudice. Your man is very handsome Kerry and the two of you look very happy. Love the photos.
Gorgeous photos Kerry. There is nothing better than a day out on a lovely sunny day 🙂
Thank you! I’m an exceptionally bad photo taker so thats very nice to hear!
Lovely lovely lovely 🙂 I can’t wait to see more of your photos showing gorgeous England!
Thanks Lucy! It doesn’t look too shabby in the sunshine 🙂
Looks like you had a lovely time. Great pics. Buxton is far but it’s a lovely place – we’d love to go back.
Maybe we should all go – its about an hour and a half on a bus, but nice scenery I’m sure and it would probably go by quicker if we were playing cards!
