Happy Friday everyone! I’m so happy its almost the weekend, but I can’t believe how quickly we’re barrelling towards Christmas and 2013 – its scary! I am starting to get quite into the festive spirit though…
These are some cute Christmas bits and bobs that I was browsing at Hobbycraft. They are pretty expensive though. I’ve got a few ideas up my sleeve for homemade Christmas gifts this year…
This week I also got a new door mat that I was ridiculously excited about (this is where I ask myself what I’m doing with my life) – but look at it – it’s Marty and Milo!
Milo approves!
An after dinner snack which didn’t taste nearly as much like double chocolate peanut butter brownies as I hoped it might (unrealistic, I now realise!).
A healthy breakfast of porridge with apple, maple syrup and almonds. Cold breakfasts just aren’t cutting it since winter and cycling to work have arrived. I’m pretty sure I’m consuming more calories than ever in my life!
A view from the window of the dining hall at Brackenhurst Campus, which is part of Nottingham Trent University, where I now work. It’s an amazing place. They have their own lake!
And the names of every student to have graduated are engraved on the boards hanging around the room, pretty cool!
Finally, a healthy-ish Thursday night dinner, cheese on toast and avocado on toast – I love it with a drizzle of olive oil, sea salt and toasted pine nuts on top. Delish!
Have a wonderful weekend readers! I’m doing house stuff, blog stuff (planning for Christmas!) and heading out for Chinese to celebrate lovely Erin’s birthday. What are you up to?
That avocado on toast looks delish!
Thanks! I also had it for dinner the next night!
I love the look of the Brackenhurst campus! Oh and pine nuts with avocado – sounds like a match made in heaven. Will definitely be trying this on toast soon. Although last avocado I bought was two weeks ago and it still hasn’t ripened 😦
Yeah its super yummy! Maybe they don’t like the cold, apparently putting them with a ripe banana helps. I also bought the pre ripened ones from tesco when I couldn’t get to the greengrocers and they were ready to use within a couple of days.
love the doormat!
thanks!
What a lovely place to work!
And I know what you mean about only wanting warming food as it gets colder and darker (at least porridge is a healthy start to the day!)
Christmas is coming around scarily fast… must get myself organised!
We should have another blog meet up before Christmas – you could come to us this time?

Good idea! Let me know what dates work for you guys?
Will have a chat with E tomorrow and get back to you! x
