May is the month when I finally recover from the cold winter and start to look forward to the FUN of summer (and it had better be a nice one or so help me I’m emigrating!). I also find that it’s a great time to re-evaluate and revamp both your wardrobe and home for the brighter months!

I’m battling against a wardrobe full of blacks and navy blues and attempting to introduce a few colourful pieces for the summer months… I love these dresses and the bright satchel bag.
At home, I’d also love to introduce some brighter and more vivid colours, possibly with artwork, or home fabrics. I also LOVE the idea of rescuing an old piece of furniture and repainting it in a bright turquoise like this – the idea is to have things scattered around your home, garden and wardrobe that will make you feel instantly happier when you see them – and colour does that for me!
Even though I LOVE my wonderful (more powerful and more than ten times cheaper) Breville mixer, I still dream of having a beautiful Kitchenaid…. one day!

Here are the ways I’m applying the idea of bringing brighter colours into my life!
- Buying low-effort bright spring flowers like pansies and marigolds to brighten up my garden and hanging baskets – and similarly, buying cheaper indoor flowers like lisanthiums and tulips to brighten up my living room
- Repaint my tired looking garden furniture in a bright pastel colour
- Making an effort to incorporate brighter colours and patterns into my wardrobe (you may have noticed that I’ve got a bit of a thing for navy blue…)
Have I inspired you to make your life a bit more colourful? Any other suggestions for me?
love the colors!
Such cheerful photos. Love the seersucker skirt…I have one…it made me go to the closet to pull it out. Also the mixer would make anyone want to bake something. You take such care posting Kerry. It’s always so appreciated. You perk me up every time.
It may sound really silly but I find things like bright coloured napkins at dinner/cake time and other disposables are a great way to add some spring fun! I also use fresh flowers a lot! I bought myself some crysanthamums for a £1 at the weekend to bright up my bedroom 🙂
Definitely agree on the bright napkins (plus great for blog props!) 🙂
I love that red dress and the colorful teaspoons, great finds!
Thanks Emily!
I just love the spring and the thought of summer to come (although I may have to emigrate too if its as bad as last year!!) Colour is sooo important, my home is a different place with sunlight streaming in. Adding painted furniture to your home and garden is a fab idea, it can instantly transform a space and you can then accessorize with the chosen colour and create a wonderful space. I love the rustic, pastel coloured pieces that add such charm. I love having daffodils on my tables at this time of year too and I have just bought a bright red jumper to add a little cheer :O)
Lovely bright colours! Mmmmmm Kitchen Aid. I have the red Kitchen Aid food processor which is fabulous and also mixes dough but the mixer is soooo pretty!
Damn practicality 🙂
One day….
I love the satchel! It’s a cambridge one right? Though I must also admit that May to me equals rocking out the wicker – I LOVE wicker…
And KitchenAid wise, well we all want one don’t we! With the cafe we took over I’ve now aquired two Kenwood mixers… but low and behold, yep I’m still dreaming of a kitchenaid!
Oooh you’re running a cafe? How exciting! Whereabouts is it?
Surely if a kitchenaid is a business expense, its tax deductible….?
… got to be?! I do the accounting I can make it up 😉 And yes, been running a cafe since January – a very rapid opportunity grabbing thing. It’s in Cheshire.
Maybe after year one we’ll see about that kitchen aid!
